He is a toddler that gets into everything. On the other hand, the alternative is keeping my kid home or possibly exposing him to milk. I understand the convenience of moms grabbing a yogurt, string cheese or milk bottle to send with your child. The morah says I can ask the other moms not to send dairy but I am feeling so guilty. I feel like it's too much of a risk to allow him to be in a playgroup with other kids who are bringing dairy. (I finally got rid of all the dairy in my house, something I should have done long ago.) This left me feeling traumatized and very anxious. He recently had a severe reaction from milk and had to receive the epi and be hospitalized. And sadly, the reactions have been getting worse with each accidental exposure. The slightest exposure causes a reaction. Turns out he is severely allergic to milk. And also, because while every school is peanut free, I never heard of a school forbidding milk, fish or sesame products. The real reason I didn't stress the other things is because I thought (mistakenly), that only peanut butter was a severe allergen that can cause anaphylaxis, while the others are just "mild". She also keeps him separate during lunch time. The morah is very careful not to give him food unless she checks with me. Thing is, he is also allergic to other things, but I felt guilty asking mothers not to send items with those things, so I kept it to just peanuts. She said that was perfectly fine and very standard. In the beginning I explained to the morah about my son's allergies, and I asked her if it's possible to ask the mothers not to send anything with peanuts. For the past few months I have been sending him to a babysitter/playgroup situation. Mon, Oct 04 2021, 5:37 pm My baby is 20 months.
